Jazz dance emerged out of the theatrical styles performed on Broadway and in West End musicals; it was the key ingredient in many Hollywood musical films and TV variety programs throughout the 20th Century. From Vaudeville to Bollywood, shows that encompassed and augmented jazz dance are Cabaret, Chicago, West Side Story, Sweet Charity, A Chorus Line, Fame, Flashdance and Moulin Rouge.
